Operations Associate

 

Company Info: Private investment firm focused on credit and special situations investing, based in Greenwich, CT

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with daily trade management workflow; including trade entry, confirmation & entity allocations
  • Assist the Trading Desk/Analysts with requests including P&L, exposure, and trade activity inquiries regarding the portfolio
  • Review daily P&L and control diagnostics and produce nightly reporting for the firm
  • Perform collateral management responsibilities for both cleared & non-cleared OTC derivative portfolios
  • Work with Compliance team to set up new brokerage relationships and monitor best execution
  • Coordinate with analysts and tax specialists to process complex corporate actions such as reorganizations, mandatory/voluntary exchanges, tenders, and amendments—experience coordinating elections and proxies with PBs a plus
  • Work with our Administrator to help maintain/review daily cash, position, and accrual reconciliations associated with complex bank loans, fixed income, and originations
  • Assist Financing Team to analyze securities lending data; liaise with Front Office & Prime Brokers on borrow costs and lending opportunities
  • Participate in a broad range of operational projects

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a GPA greater than 3.25
  • 5-6 years’ experience in the financial services industry
  • Strong desire to work on an expanding team that covers a wide range of financial products
  • Knowledge of securities processing and operations. Specific knowledge of credit and/or fixed income products, capital structures or derivatives experience is a plus
  • Prior experience with a prime brokerage / hedge fund relationship is a plus
  • Ability to use Bloomberg and knowledge of market data
  • High technical comfort level with systems and technology: working knowledge of FIS VPM a plus
  • Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and recommend process enhancements
  • Thrives in a fast paced environment with the ability to multi-task and works toward deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to gather, organize, and illustrate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Comfortable communicating directly with Front Office personnel
