Company Info: Well-established private equity firm with $500 million of capital under management based in New York, NY.

Responsibilities:

Compliance:

  • Responsible for private fund RIA compliance reporting and monitoring by working with third party compliance consultants
  • Ensures all accounting and compliance processes are compliant with documents

Accounting for the private equity fund:

  • Responsible for administrator’s private equity processes including calls, distributions, subsequent closes, carry calculations, and management fees
  • Establishes internal controls and accounting processes leading to an unqualified opinion
  • Establishes tax policies, tax accounting and tax reporting leading to preparation of K-1s by the candidate or the firm’s tax preparer
  • Properly accounts for and allocates fund expenses, deal expenses, and fees
  • Prepares quarterly and annual financial statements with administrator.
  • Provide confidence to prospective investors about the strength of operations and controls

Accounting for royalty assets:

  • Correctly accounts for acquisition costs, classifying items correctly according to industry standard guidance
  • Establishes and executes processes to ensure accounts receivable are received in a timely manner. Large administration team to assist with process
  • Recognizes and correctly accounts for minority interest participants on royalty assets
  • Establishes amortization processes and ensures such processes are acceptable for GAAP and tax
  • Correctly accounts for asset sales

Management company:

  • Accounting for management fees and carry to the GP
  • Accounting for AP/Expenses and payroll
  • Proper classification of expense vs. capitalization for GAAP and tax
  • Accounting for operating expense against a budget
  • Working with administrator on employee portion of carried interest calculations

Qualifications:

  • 7-15 years private equity experience – Controller of a royalty/credit/real estate cash flow related private equity fund
  • Existing controller of a private equity fund or senior member of a private equity administration team
  • Detail oriented, hands on, and able to work in a team format
  • Experience accounting for royalty assets preferred
