What insights does the Digital Compensation Dashboard provide?
The dashboard gives you access to data gathered from across our network, including placements we have made, searches we have been retained for, and survey responses. Unlike static reports, our data is continuously refreshed and reflects today's market, not just historical trends.
Backed by nearly three decades of specialized experience in alternative asset management, the dashboard allows precise, on-demand compensation analysis across the industry. Its purpose is to help you have informed compensation discussions, evaluate your firm's market competitiveness and shape your career.
How are positions defined in the dashboard?
Positions are defined through a combination of experience level, firm structure and department size, as responsibilities often vary across organizations. Generally, Associates have 2 to 4 years of experience, Senior Associates 4 to 7, Assistant Controllers 7 to 10, Controllers 10 to 15, and Senior Controllers 15 or more, with CFOs varying based on firm size and complexity. Each title is further adjusted for differences in team structure and scope of responsibility, since titles and compensation do not always align perfectly across firms.
How are firm sizes defined?
By assets under management (AUM): Boutique is $100M to about $3B, Small is $3B to about $10B, Medium is $10B to about $50B, and Large is $50B and above.
I earn more or less than the figures shown. What does the median represent?
The median is the midpoint of all reported compensation data for 2024 and 2025: half of professionals in that position earn above the figure and half earn below it. We show the median along with the 25th and 75th percentiles to give a more complete picture of market variation, including how compensation shifts with experience, firm complexity and performance expectations.
